Notre Dame Makes Quick Work of Hess, Takes Down LSU

Posted by clintdomingue on February 17, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

It didn’t take long for many fans of the LSU (1-1) program to declare the Zack Hess experiment to be over. In fact, it only took two and third innings before the sophomore was pulled after allowing eight runs on the afternoon en route to a 10-5 loss on Saturday afternoon to Notre Dame.

After Cole Daily made it 1-0 in the top of the first, Beau Jordan sent one flying out to left field in the bottom of the second to tie things up.

However, things started to go off the rails in a bad way with Niko Kavadas hitting a two-run single down the left field line in the top of the third. That started a seven run inning that put the Fighting Irish made it 8-1.

The Tigers began to fight back in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single out to right field from Nick Coomes, followed up by a two-run single from Brandt Broussard quickly making it 8-4. Coomes made it 8-5 in the sixth inning after Broussard fouled out.

The Irish finished things off in the ninth when Nick Podkul hit a two-run double out to left center.

LSU will look to take the rubber match on Sunday with first pitch set for 11 am.
