Cabrera Lifts LSU Past Texas

Posted by clintdomingue on February 25, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

After a rough night offensively, the Texas Longhorns (3-3) kept it interesting until the fifth inning. After Texas went up 5-0, the LSU Tigers (4-2) responded in a big way with a 10-5 victory on Saturday night.

After a solo shot from Zach Zubia in the fifth, the Tigers finally got on the board with Brandy Broussard hitting an RBI single. LSU got four more runs across in the bottom of the fifth to tie things up at five runs apiece.

Nick Webre got the Tigers out in front in the seventh, scoring off of a wild pitch. Broussard followed that up with an RBI single through the right side to make it 7-5. Daniel Cabrera put the final touches on the game in the bottom of the eight with a solo shot out to right field.

Mathew Beck got his first win of the season in relief, allowing one hit and struck out one in one and two-thirds of an inning of work.

LSU will look to break the brooms out on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
