Pelicans Win 10th Straight Against Kings

Posted by clintdomingue on March 8, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

This team is truly doing something special. After getting out of Los Angeles with a win, the New Orleans Pelicans (38-26) completed their trip over to the west coast with a 114-101 victory on Wednesday night over the Sacramento Kings (20-44) to get their tenth straight victory.

The start of the ballgame saw the lead change a total of seven times before the Pelicans started to take control late in the first quarter. They then went on an 11-2 run to end the quarter up 32-21 after a three-pointer from Ian Clark.

Things looked like they were going to get out of hand early in the second quarter when the Pelicans got up by 20 points with 7:34 left in the first half. However, the Kings managed to keep things under control with a late run to make it a 13-point ballgame thanks to former Pelican Buddy Hield putting up nine points. It didn’t last long though as both teams headed into the locker room with New Orleans holding an 18-point lead.

Things got scary for Pelicans fans late in the third quarter when Anthony Davis went down with an ankle injury. He didn’t return for the rest of the ballgame, but Nikola Mirotic stepped up in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of his 26 points to help the Pelicans get their tenth straight win by the score of 114-110.

The Pelicans will return to action on Friday when they host the Washington Wizards (37-28) with tipoff set for 7 pm.
