Posted by clintdomingue on April 20, 2018 in Featured

The road woes for LSU (24-15, 9-7 SEC) continued on Friday night, falling to South Carolina (20-17, 7-9 SEC) 11-0.

How It Happened

After Noah Campbell grounded out to lead off things for the Gamecocks in the bottom of the first, Carlos Cortes blasted one out to right field to take the early lead. They got out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth that saw Justin Row score off of a double play, followed by an RBI double by TJ Hopkins .

South Carolina put things out of reach in the bottom of the seventh with another two-run inning highlighted by an RBI single out to left center by Jonah Bride. Things really got out of hand in the bottom of the eighth with a six-run inning capped off by a three-run triple by TJ Hopkins.

Hess dropped to 6-4 on the year, allowing three runs off of eight hits, walked two, and struck out five in six innings of work.

Big Number: 14

South Carolina had a strong performance at the plate, racking up 14 hits, with three of them going for extra bases.

Player of the Game: Carlos Cortes

Carlos Cortes made the most of every hit he had on Friday night, going three-of-four with two RBIs and three runs on the evening.
