Ma’Khail Hilliard needed a bounce back performance on Friday night and he definitely had that kind of performance to help LSU (26-18, 10-10 SEC) come away with a 5-2 win over Ole Miss.
How It Happened
Ole Miss fired out of the gates first with an RBI single from Nick Fortes through the left side.
However, Hunter Feduccia got the Tigers out in front in the sixth with a two-out, two run double out to left center field. Antoine Duplantis followed that up with an RBI triple down the right field line to give LSU a little insurance.
Feduccia and Hal Hughes shut the door in the eighth with a pair of RBI singles, making it 5-1. Fortes struck again in the bottom frame with a solo shot, but that was all the Rebels could muster on Friday night.
Hilliard improved to 8-3 on the season, allowing one run off of four hits, walked three, and struck out six in seven innings of work.
Big Number: 11
If not for Duplantis and Feduccia, the Tigers offense would’ve been on life support as the Tigers were struck out 11 times on the evening, with three players striking out twice.
Player of the Game: Hunter Feduccia
Feduccia was huge on Friday night, going two-of-four with three RBIs on the evening.
