LSU’s Will Clapp Final Saints Pick

Posted by clintdomingue on April 29, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

The last LSU Tiger to be drafted by the New Orleans Saints was Al Woods back in 2010. He never saw the field in the black and gold. That streak was snapped with the Saints final pick being Will Clapp.

The Skinny

Height Weight 40-Yard Bench Vertical Jump Broad Jump 3-Cone 20-Yard Shuttle
6’5″ 311 5.39 25 29″ 97″ 8.04 4.92

Breakdown

The former Tiger played very well in one of the toughest conferences in the SEC and has some serious versatility as he played at both center and guard. His ability to play both positions could help him get more snaps sooner rather than later since Max Unger will be the starter for at least the next two seasons.

Coach Speak

Sean Payton: “He’s played a lot of games at a high level of competition. We know he can give us center snaps. Our vision would initially be at center.”

Grade: C

With two years left on Max Unger’s contract, this could be a future starter for the Saints. He’ll have some time to adjust to the pros and sit under the learning tree of Unger, who has been the foundation that this new and improved offensive line has been.
