LSU Comes Up Short Against Florida in Second Round of SEC Tourney

Posted by clintdomingue on May 24, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

Early on in Wednesday’s matchup against Florida, it seemed like LSU could come away with the win. However, the Gators clawed back into the matchup, winning 4-3.

How It Happened

After a throwing error by the second baseman in the top of the second, Jake Slaughter made the Gators pay early on with a two-run blast over the left field wall to give them the early edge. Another throwing error in the third helped the Tigers make it 3-0 after a single out to right field by Daniel Cabrera.

The Gators weren’t about to go away though as they responded in the bottom frame with a three-run inning highlighted by an RBI double by Deacon Liput. Florida took the lead in the fifth with a two-out RBI single courtesy of Austin Langworthy.

Big Number: 8

The Tigers left them stranded quite a bit, eight to be precise and that might’ve been the difference maker in such a close ballgame.

Player of the Game: Jonathan India

The SEC Player of the Year had a couple of slip-ups early on, but redeemed himself at the plate, going two-of four including the game-tying RBI single through the left side.

Next Up: South Carolina; First Pitch Set for 12:30 pm
