After pitching an 11-0 shutout against the Florida Gators, LSU’s bats weren’t wide awake. However, they just needed one big hit to take down the Arkansas Razorbacks and advance to Championship Sunday
How It Happened
After an hour and 26 minute rain delay, Jared Gates got the Razorbacks on the board with a one-out solo home run in the bottom of the third. That was the lone hit that Zack Hess allowed in six innings of work.
After that solo home run, it seemed like Arkansas was poised to come away with a win over the Tigers. However, Zach Watson got the Tigers on the board with a two-run blast out to left field to pump up the Tigers fans in Hoover. That was more than enough for LSU thanks to a great showing in relief from Nick Bush, allowing only two hits in two innings, recording his second save of the year.
Big Number: 7
Hess racked up seven strikeouts for his seventh win of the season. Considering how up and down it’s been for him, this was a great victory.
Player of the Game: Zack Hess
Hess had it all working for him on Saturday, throwing seven innings and allowing only that home run in the third. He was able to overcome that and have a big game to help this team advance to the SEC Title game once again.
