Cantrelle Powers Cajuns Past Little Rock

Posted by clintdomingue on March 16, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns evened up the series against the Little Rock Trojans by the score of 16-10 thanks in large part to an offensive explosion from Hayden Cantrelle.

How It Happened:

Cantrelle led off the ballgame with a solo shot out to right field, but Riley Pittman offered a rebuttal with a three-run bomb in the bottom of the first. The Cajuns tied it up in the top of the third when Cantrelle lifted another one out to right field to get two runs across. However, the Trojans responded with a three-run inning highlighted by a two-run single out to left field by Chase Coker gave them a 6-3 lead.

The Trojans lead grew to 9-4 in the fourth inning with another crooked number inning that was kickstarted by an RBI single from Pittman.

Things really started to turn around for Louisiana in the sixth inning with a four-run inning and that all started with a solo shot from Orynn Veillon. The seventh inning was more of the same when Handsome Monica drilled one out to left field to give the Cajuns the lead.

Hayden Cantrelle finished things off in the eighth inning, sparking another four-run inning with his third home run of the day along with a two-run jack down the right field line to put the game out of reach.

Big Number: 20

It’s not often you see a team rack up 20 hits in a single game. That number is even crazier considering that the Cajuns only amassed three hits in the loss on Friday night. Something was clicking on Saturday afternoon.

Player of the Game:

Tying a program record for home runs in a single game definitely gets you some run in the player of the game section. The Teurlings Catholic product became the 10th Cajun to ever hit three home runs in a single game.
