LSU Shuts Out South Alabama

Posted by clintdomingue on April 4, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

While Wednesday night’s ballgame didn’t have as many fireworks as the Grambling ballgame, didn’t mean that there wasn’t any intrigue. LSU’s offense was stymied until the late innings and it wound being the right time as they shut out South Alabama 2-0.

How It Happened:

It was a pitcher’s duel for much of the ballgame, but Antoine Duplantis broke up the stalemate in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single.

Beloso gave the Tigers their second run of the game in the bottom of the eighth, scoring off of a wild pitch and that was enough to give them a win over the Jags.

Big Number: 9

This could have been a much more one-sided game if not for leaving nine runners on base. That’s not a great look headed into a three-game set against a conference foe.

Player of the Game: Ma’Khail Hilliard

Hilliard only threw for three innings, but he made the most of his opportunity, striking out five batters and not allowing a hit when he was on the mound. It was a great performance from him and might be a sign that he is ready to go for a little longer.

Next Up: Friday vs Texas A&M; First Pitch at 7 pm
