Nine-Run Inning Punctuates Cajuns Loss to Texas State

Posted by clintdomingue on April 26, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns dropped their fifth straight on Friday night in a 13-9 loss that was definitely highlighted by a nine-run inning by Texas State.

How It Happened:

The Bobcats opened things up in the second inning when Skyler Valentine hit a one-out RBI double to score Dalton Shuffield. Things really went off the rails in the top of the fifth with a nine-run inning that was highlighted by a three-run blast from Felipe Rodriguez to make it a 10-0 ballgame.

The Cajuns responded though in the bottom frame with three runs coming across highlighted by a two-run double down the left field line courtesy of Brennan Breaux. Todd Lott chopped away at the deficit in the sixth with a two-run double and that was followed up by a four-run seventh inning to get within one run.

However, the Cajuns just couldn’t get over the proverbial hump and Texas State finished the job with a three-run inning that was highlighted by a two-run ground-rule double from Will Hollis to close things out.

Big Number: 13

The Cajuns offense put up 12 hits on the evening, but they couldn’t make anything of it, stranding 13 batters in the process.

Player of the Game: Will Hollis

Hollis made the most of his opportunities at the dish, going three-for-six with four RBIs along with two doubles. Nothing short of impressive.

Next Up: Saturday vs Texas State; First Pitch at 4 pm
