Louisiana Rallies Late; Wins Wild One Against UL Monroe

Posted by clintdomingue on May 17, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

Headed into the top of the ninth, things didn’t look great for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns on Friday night. However, the offense came alive and the Cajuns evened up the series in a 13-9 win over UL Monroe.

How It Happened:

UL Monroe came out the gates strong with a two-run jack by Trent Tingelstad, but the Cajuns responded in the top of the second with a three-run inning that was highlighted by an RBI single through the left side.

Louisiana extended their lead to 6-2 thanks to a pair of home runs in the fourth by Handsome Monica and Kole McKinnon. The Warhawks started tied things up in the fifth with a four-run inning that was jumpstarted by a two-run double by Masen Prososki.

UL Monroe took the lead in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI double from Chad Bell and a sac fly by Blake Buckman. The Cajuns answered the bell in the top of the ninth with a pair of home runs by Hunter Kasuls and Orynn Veillon to force extra innings. Louisiana then took that momentum and ran with it, putting up five runs in the tenth inning capped off by a three-run triple from Veillon.

Big Number: 11

The Warhawks left a lot on the table on Friday night, stranding 11 baserunners on the evening.

Player of the Game: Orynn Veillon

Veillon may have only had two hits in five plate appearances, but each of those were absolutely crucial, especially the three-run triple in the 10th.

Next Up: Saturday at UL Monroe; First Pitch at 12 pm
