New Orleans Pelicans Trade Number Four Pick to Hawks

Posted by clintdomingue on June 20, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News, New Orleans Pelicans

The 2019 NBA Draft hasn’t even started yet, but Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin is already wheeling and dealing.

As first reported by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the New Orleans Pelicans have traded the number four pick in the draft to the Atlanta Hawks. They will also trade Solomon Hill, the 57th pick in this year’s draft and a future second-round pick in exchange for the 8th, 17th, and 35th pick in the NBA Draft.

Hill, who joined the Pelicans in the 2016-17 season, had a solid start with the franchise but couldn’t sustain that, averaging 4.3 points last season in 44 games after missing much of the 2017-18 season with a torn hamstring. The former first-round pick out of Arizona was going to cost the Pelicans over $12 million in cap space before the trade according to Spotrac.
