Posted by clintdomingue on July 12, 2019 in Blogs, Storm Blog

Ahead of Tropical Storm Barry making landfall, Joel Robideaux has recommended a voluntary evacuation of Lafayette, Louisiana. This includes residents of mobile homes, low lying area, those with special needs and those who need uninterrupted electrical power.

Full release from Lafayette Consolidated Government:

Tropical Storm Barry poses a serious threat to Lafayette Parish. Sustained tropical storm force winds are expected to begin after midnight and continue for 12 – 15 hours.  Heavy rains are also expected.  As a result, City-Parish President Joel Robideaux through the Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has highly recommended a voluntary evacuation in Lafayette Parish for residents of manufactured housing or mobile homes, low lying areas, those with special needs and those who require uninterrupted electrical power.  Those residents should relocate to friends or family now, and complete that relocation before dark.
