BATON ROUGE — A pair of former LSU football All-Americans have been selected to the NFL All-Decade Team for the 2010s.

The NFL and Pro Football Hall of Fame unveiled the prestigious team on Monday and former Tiger star defensive backs Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu were two of the 52 stars, along with two head coaches, to be named to the 2010’s Al-Decade Team.

Peterson has played his entire professional career with the Arizona Cardinals after being selected No. 5 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. Peterson has earned first team All-Pro honors three times and has been selected to the Pro Bowl eight times.

Peterson has hauled in 25 interceptions, recorded 438 tackles. Peterson also scored five touchdowns, including an NFL-best four in punt returns for scores as a rookie in 2011.

Mathieu just wrapped his seventh season in the NFL as he recorded four interceptions with 89 tackles as he helped the Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl LV in February.

In his career, which includes stops with the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals (who drafted hm in the third round in 2013), Mathieu has 25 interceptions and 472 tackles. Mathieu has earned first-team All-Pro honors twice and earned one Pro Bowl honor.

The duo were two of the biggest award-winners while at LSU.

Peterson claimed the Bednarik and Thorpe Awards in 2010, while Mathieu took home the Bednarik Award in 2011 after helping the Tigers to a 13-0 regular season mark and the SEC championship that year.
