Start of Texas Collegiate League Pushed Back

Posted by clintdomingue on April 22, 2020 in Blogs, Latest News

For those that want some live sports in their lives, it looks like at least one summer baseball league is planning on starting their season in early July.

The Texas Collegiate League, which has the Acadiana Cane Cutters as a part of their organization, announced on Wednesday that they will begin their 2020 season on July 3rd and will shorten the season to 24 games.

“As we have to address uncertain times across two states, we wanted to provide the best possibility to have baseball back for the athletes and most importantly an opportunity for fans and families to be a part of the TCL this season. Therefore, the decision to move the start date made the most sense at this time,” TCL League President Uri Geva in a statement.

The league voted unanimously to move the season back to 4th of July weekend to give all of their franchise time to prepare and ensure the safety of their fans. They will continue to monitor social distancing requirements and have begun to put in guidelines for fans to be able to attend ballparks this summer.

The Acadiana Cane Cutters will open up their season at Fabacher Field on July 6th against the Brazos Valley Bombers with first pitch slated for 7 pm.
