LAFAYETTE — Freshman running back Walter Williams has been dismissed from the Louisiana-Lafayette football program for an undisclosed violation of team rules, the school announced Monday.
“Walter is no longer a member of our football team,” said coach Mark Hudspeth in a news release. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Williams was a member of the Cajuns 25-man 2015 signing class.
His short tenure with the team this spring was spent alternating between jaw-dropping displays of athleticism and youthful mistakes.
Rated a two-star prospect by Scout.com before his arrival, Williams ran for 1,680 yards and 19 touchdowns in his senior season at Vancleave.
The Cajuns have now dismissed three players this offseason, with Williams joining wide receiver C.J. Bates and defensive end Marquis White.
Season tickets on sale
Louisiana-Lafayette announced Monday that season tickets for the upcoming football season are now on sale to the public.
Fans who purchase season tickets will have a reserved seat at every home game, the ability to purchase tickets at a lower price than individual game tickets and will receive priority access to postseason/bowl tickets.
The Cajuns open their six-game home schedule on Sept. 12 against Northwestern State and will host Akron (Sept. 26), Texas State (Oct. 10), ULM (Oct. 31), New Mexico State (Nov. 21) and Troy (Dec. 5).
