With Saturday’s 68-51 victory, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns managed to earn a split in its weekend Sun Belt Conference series at UT Arlington.

The Ragin’ Cajuns are now 9-4 overall on the season and 3-3 in SBC.

How It Happened:

After the two teams traded two-point jumpers, the Ragin’ Cajuns took control as Cedric Russell scored seven straight points to give the Ragin’ Cajuns a 9-2 lead.

UTA climbed back into the game after a Jordan Phillips’ dunk made it 15-8. Russell responded with a three-pointer.

At the break, Louisiana led 42-26.

UTA cut into the lead after Grayson Carter made a layup and then Shahad Wells drained a free throw. That made it 50-41 with 11:20 left in the second half.

Louisiana took control of the second half and of the game by going on a 11-0 run. UTA was never able to cut Louisiana’s lead down to single digits again as the Ragin’ Cajuns picked up the 17-point road victory.

Big Number: 60

The Ragin’ Cajuns shot 60 percent from beyond the arc as the team shot 9-of-15 from three-point range.

Players of the Game: Mylik Wilson & Cedric Russell

Wilson led all scorers with 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including going 5-of-5 from three-point range. Russell meanwhile added 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting.
