The Houston Astros kept their hot start going with another bombastic performance offensively, rolling to a 9-2 win over the Oakland A’s, completing the series sweep.

How It Happened:

After Jose Altuve lifted one to the warning track that was caught by Chad Pinder, Kyle Tucker left no doubt with a solo shot to center field to give Houston an early 1-0 lead. The A’s were able to tie things up though in the bottom frame with a one-out RBI double by Jed Lowrie.

The Astros responded in kind in the top of the second with Jason Castro drilling one out to left-center field for a two-run homer, his first of the season Yuli Gurriel quickly made it a 5-1 lead with a two-run double on a sharp fly ball to score Altuve and Yordan Alvarez.

Oakland responded in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 5-2 deficit when Matt Olson hit a groundout to Altuve, allowing Mark Canha to reach home safely. Houston increased their lead in the sixth inning with Gurriel scoring off of a force out. Chas McCormick replaced an injured Michael Brantley and made an immediate impact, blasting a three-run homer to seal the victory.

Big Number: 3

The Astros offense was on fire all throughout this opening series and Sunday was far from the opposite with three home runs on the afternoon.

Player of the Game: Yuli Gurriel

Gurriel had a great outing, going three-for-four with a two-run double in the second. the veteran first-baseman was great all weekend long, batting .364 with 4 RBIs and a home run.

Next Up: Monday vs Angels; First Pitch at 8:38 pm
