Posted by clintdomingue on June 27, 2021 in Blogs, Latest News, RP3's Blogs

Delta Media Corporation had an impressive showing in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association annual awards contest held in Natchitoches on Sunday, with bringing home a total of 11 honors.

RP3 & Company host Raymond Partsch III and producer Louis Prejean took home first place honors in the Best Interview category for a live interview with former MLB slugger and Louisiana Sports Hall of Famer Will Clark.

The judge’s commented about the submission, “Good interview with Will Clark. Loved the journey through his career from college to the Olympics to his time with the Giants and the 1989 World Series. Ending it with a request for a positive note for players impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic was a nice touch. Strong interview and a fun listen.”

Partsch and Prejean also took home second place honors in the Best Sports Talk Show (Solo) category, while Kevin Foote and Prejean received third place honors in the same category.

Former Bumper to Bumper Sports host Ben Love and producer Clint Domingue meanwhile earned second place honors in the Best Interview category for Ben’s discussion with LSU football legend and NFL MVP Bert Jones.

Delta Media had two different broadcast teams earn accolades in the Best Live Radio Broadcast Team category.

Love and Blaine Viator earned third-place honors for their live calls of Carencro High School football on Z105.9. Danny Jones and Sam Heinen meanwhile received honorable mention honors for their work broadcasting St. Thomas More football.

Also earning on-air recognition was the former 103.7 The Game weekly show “Five Guys, Stories & Lies.” Hosts Don Allen, Glenn Quebedeaux, Bruce Brown, Tom Brown and Bobby Ardoin and producer Clint Domingue earned third-place honors in Best Radio Show (Duo or Group) category.

103.7 The Game also took home a few honors on the writing side of the contest.

Partsch was awarded second-place in the Prep Column (Class I) category for his article on how Eddie Bonine and the LHSAA deserve thanks for leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Partsch also took home three honorable mention honors in the following categories: Pro Column (Class I) for his article on the Houston Astros and the undisclosed goldmine of trash cans, Prep Feature (Class I) category for his feature on the STM basketball team’s options program, and College-Pro Photography (Open Class) for his photo of Ragin’ Cajuns forward Tirus Smith being stunned by foul call.

For that written work, as well as stories he wrote for The Daily Iberian and Kinder Courier News, Partsch received the Sports Writer of the Year Award.

In the Newspaper Sweepstakes award (where papers receive points on a 3-2-1 basis), The Kinder Courier News took sixth place in Class II as it earned 6 points, including nabbing one first-place honor.

The Advocate (Baton Rouge, Acadiana and New Orleans) took top honors in Class I, while The Daily Iberian won Class II.

The other major LSWA award winners went to The Advocate’s Robin Fambrough for Prep Writer of the Year in Class I, Ouachita Citizen’s Jake Martin was named Prep Writer of the Year in Class II, USA TODAY Network’s Glenn Guilbeau was selected as Beat Writer of the Year in Class I, Partsch was named Beat Writer of the Year in Class II for his work with The Daily Iberian, Lake Charles American Press’ Scooter Hobbs was named Columnist of the Year in Class I, while Pointe Coupee Banner’s Kevin Fambrough won Columnist of the Year in Class II.

The Athletic’s Brody Miller won Story of the Year for his feature on the year of grief of two LSU families after Carley McCord’s tragic death.
