Just shy of a week after being introduced as the new head coach for LSU baseball, Jay Johnson landed his first splash late Saturday night.

Jacob Berry, who was an All-American infielder for the Arizona Wildcats, announced on social media that he would be following his head coach to Baton Rouge.

Due to recent changes, I am excited to play for Coach Johnson and I’m following him to the SEC… I am thankful for the good ppl and teammates at UA…wishing y’all the best! I’m also excited for the opportunity to wear the iconic purple/gold for LSU!#Geauxtigers pic.twitter.com/Vs0ovm4MqF

The native of Queen Creek, Arizona is coming off a great freshman campaign, hitting .352 with 17 home runs and 70 runs driven in. Berry does have some Louisiana ties with his father Perry playing for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns for two seasons in 1989 and 1990 before getting drafted in the fourth round by the Houston Astros.
