The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns went into Friday night’s contest against the University of New Orleans Privateers looking to bounce back after losing three straight games. The Cajuns got the job done with an 80-67 victory on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Louisiana jumped out of the gates in the first four minutes with an early eight to zero lead. Forward Jordan Brown handled the boards as he grabbed the team’s first four rebounds. New Orleans got themselves a couple of buckets to cut the lead in half, with layups by forward Simeon Kirkland and Tyson Jackson.

Brown came back with his own layup for his first made basket. The Privateers cut their deficit to two with back-to-back shots. The Cajuns made their lead 15-8 with a Brayan Au three pointer and a Kobe Julien layup.

Following the halfway point of the first half, New Orleans made three straight free throws with Jalen Dalcourt hitting on a layup between them. Kentrell Garnett splashed a three with Dou Gueye getting the assist. The Teers went on a quick eight to two run, with Kirkland being responsible for six of those points.

Gueye gave the Cajuns a 25-20 lead with a layup and made his first free throw after getting fouled before missing the second attempt. Both teams went back-and-forth, each scoring nine points. Troy Green made it a two point difference as he hit a half court three before the first half to a close.

With Louisiana up 34-32, they didn’t open up too hot as Julien had his pockets picked by Kirkland. Both squads traded buckets the first few minutes of the second half. A bunch of the scoring came between Trajan Wesley and Jackson as Wesley scored five and Jackson scored his team’s next 10 points. Green gave the Teers their first lead of the game with a three pointer as New Orleans was up 49-48. The Cajuns answered back with a 10-0 run, highlighted by dunks by Isaiah Richards and Julien.

Jackson stopped some of the bleeding, making two consecutive layups and tacked on the and-one free throw on the second made shot. The rest of the game, each traded traded buckets as the Ragin’ Cajuns ended their losing streak with a 80-67 victory over Privateers.

BIG NUMBER: 45

Louisiana, as a team out rebounded New Orleans 45 to 32 in Friday night’s win.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Trajan Wesley

Wesley was the spark that the Cajuns needed as he scored a team high 18 points coming off the bench.
