AVONDALE — Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele held off the hard charging duo of Sam Burns and Billy Horschel to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans at the TPC Louisiana on Sunday.

Cantlay and Schauffele shot even-par 72 on Sunday to win the PGA Tour’s lone team event, which mixes four-ball and foursomes, by two strokes.

Burns and Horschel, who finished in fourth place in 2021, shot 4-under 68 to finish as runner-up.

Cantlay-Schauffele opened the door for Burns-Horschel by carding par on the first six holes of Sunday’s final round. The duo did get an eagle on No. 7. After Cantlay’s approach shot landed eight feet away from the hole, Schauffele putted in the eagle putt.

The duo gave back one of those shots two holes later with a bogey on No. 9.

Burns-Horschel, who began the day six strokes behind the leaders, meanwhile carded three birdies on the front nine with red numbers on No. 2, No. 5 and No. 8. The duo kept the low numbers coming to start the back nine with a birdie on No. 10 and another on No. 11.

Cantlay-Schauffle saw their lead shrink to one stroke after a bogey on No. 10. The duo would push it back to two strokes with a birdie on No. 11.

The two would par the next five holes.

Burns-Horschel meanwhile carded pars on holes No. 12 through 16 before giving back a stroke with a bogey on the par-3 No. 17. The duo would par the final hole.

Cantlay-Schauffele meanwhile finished with a bogey on No. 18 and ended the day with an even-par 72. That proved to still be good enough for the two-stroke win.
