With the 2022 college football season right around the corner, it’s time to take a look at the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns and their 2023 recruiting class thus far. We’ll take a look at the recruits already signed and will update as more names come out.

Elijah Davis (RB, 5’9″, 210 lbs) Riverside Academy, Reserve, LA

Davis comes to Michael Desormeaux’s team from Riverside Academy, a top Division III program in Louisiana. According to multiple outlets, Davis is a three-star recruit, with one source saying his speed and power are comparable to Louisiana legend Leonard Fournette. Elijah Davis should fit right into an already talented running back room.

Justin Williams (WR, 6’3″, 180 lbs) Aldine McArthur, Houston, TX

Williams is a big-bodied receiver who also played safety in high school. With his long arms and breakaway speed, he gets past defenders and makes plays. No matter who the QB is for Louisiana, Justin Williams will be a playmaker for this offense. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him play some defense as well.

Jay’Veon Haynes (RB, 5’9″, 175 lbs) Woodlawn, Baton Rouge, LA

Haynes is a smaller, shifty type back with elite speed once he reaches the second and third levels of the defense. He, like Williams, also played safety in high school, so the multi-dimension athleticism could be a big factor for Desormeaux and his staff starting in 2023.

Matthew Broussard (OL, 6’4″, 280 lbs) ED White, Thibodaux, LA

Broussard is an undersized offensive lineman who plays with a ton of heart. Watching the tape, he holds his blocks through the whistle, which is important to Desormeaux and his staff. The size will take care of itself once he arrives on campus, and Broussard looks to have a bunch of upside coming to Lafayette next year.

Daniel Blood (WR, 6’0″, 180 lbs) Destrehan High School, Destrehan, LA

Blood is a playmaking receiver that plays for one of the better powerhouse programs in this state. He has great hands, elusive footwork, and doesn’t shy away from contact. Blood also has shown the ability to climb the ladder and make the catch, which is important in Division I football. Blood committed to Louisiana over offers from Louisiana Tech, Liberty, Arkansas State, ULM, South Alabama, and Nicholls.
