Former Cajun promoted to Athletics 40-man roster

Hogan Harris, a Lafayette native and former Ragin Cajun baseball star was elevated to the 40-man roster of the Oakland Athletics, according to the organization.

Harris played for the Cajuns from 2016-2018 and was selected 85th overall by Oakland in 2018, overcoming injuries to return to the mound in 2022 and posting a 2-4 record and a 3.42 ERA with High-A Lansing, Double-A Midland, and Triple-A Las Vegas.

In 73.2 innings, the southpaw notched 105 strikeouts in 23 appearances.

Harris had a 12-4 record in Cajun Country with a 2.87 ERA in three seasons. In 153.2 innings, he recorded 167 strikeouts with a.227 opponents batting average. In his final season in 2018, Harris had a 5-2 record with a 2.62 ERA with 54 strikeouts.
