LSU Eunice Women’s Basketball continue to hit their stride down the stretch, cruising past Southern-Shreveport 72-41 at the HPRE Center on Saturday.  The 31 points were the largest margin of victory for the Bengals (7-14 overall, 3-2 LCCAC) this season.

The Bengals started the game on fire, using a 12-0 run in the first quarter to build their double-digit lead throughout the game.  Braille Washington buried a corner three-pointer to cap the start as LSUE held Southern-Shreveport to just two points in the opening frame.  Washington led the Bengals in the first half with 11 of her 16 points off the bench coming before intermission.

The second quarter saw LSUE continue its dominance on both ends as the Bengals’ lead swelled to 36-8 at the break.

The LSUE reserves would play a big role in the blowout, scoring 44 of the team’s 71 points.  Gabrielle Huetter enjoyed a breakout performance, netting a season-high 16 points off the bench.  The freshman would connect on a three-pointer in each of the four quarters.

Sophomores Vanessa Duhe and Deja Tanks combined for 14 points in their Sophomore Day game.  In addition to the two inside players, the team honored Brooklyn Fontenot before tipoff.

LSU Eunice finds itself tied atop the LCCAC standings heading into the last round of conference games.  The Bengals travel to Baton Rouge CC on Wednesday with first place on the line with four games to go for LSUE.  LSU Eunice and BRCC get underway at 5:30 PM from the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
