Marcus Maye cleared a significant legal hurdle on Thursday.

Back in September 2022, the New Orleans Saints safety was arrested for an alleged aggravated assault with a firearm. Maye was still able to play in the 2022 season for the Saints.

Reports stated the case has since been refused and dropped by the district attorney due to insufficient evidence.

After a thorough investigation, they found the incident of Maye pointing a firearm at another vehicle that was filled with juvenile females “didn’t occur as described,” said Maye’s attorney Eric Hessler to a local News Station.

The news was first announced on Twitter by Travers Mackel of WDSU in New Orleans:

In other news on Thursday, the Saints also gave themselves more cap availability by reworking offensive guard Andrus Peat’s contract. Peat’s number dropped from $18.3 million to $8.8 million, which saves New Orleans $9.5 million in cap space.

Nick Underhill was one of the first to bring the news to light:

Andrus Peat agreed to a reworked contract that takes his salary-cap number down to about $8.8 million from his previous number of $18.3 million

This reworking was one of the final hurdles for the Saints to be able to sign more free agents and have enough cap space for rookies in the upcoming NFL draft in April.
