“One city. One team. One final season.”
That was what Cam Jordan said at Tuesday afternoon’s press conference after the New Orleans Saints began minicamp, gearing up for the 2026-27 season. The veteran makes his illustrious return to New Orleans after signing a one-year deal described as “incentive-laden” by NFL reporters, including Ian Rapoport, who was among the first to break the news.
Jordan, who has spent all 15 seasons of his NFL career with the Black and Gold, sought out one more deal before hanging it up. There were rumors that he could suit up for a different team after the Saints were hesitant to re-sign their all-time sack leader.
General Manager Mickey Loomis noted at an off-season press conference that an offer had been sent to Jordan, but there were no signs that the 36-year-old defensive lineman would accept it. The lack of updates and progress being made left many wondering if Jordan would play another season, and with the Saints at all. Everything changed on Tuesday.
Reports said that Jordan and the Saints were scheduled to have a meeting on June 16th, the same day as the start of minicamp, to negotiate a new deal. The meetings resulted in both sides agreeing on the one-year contract that’ll keep Jordan in New Orleans for a 16th year.
Jordan rejoins the team that drafted him and where he recorded 10.5 sacks last season. The move comes after the Black and Gold added players this offseason, such as Tyree Wilson, Anfernee Jennings, and rookie Christen Miller.
