The Acadiana area has seen plenty of standout players go on to do great things at higher levels in recent years. Now, another local product is going pro. Former Opelousas Catholic star Keon Coleman will be entering his name into the 2024 NFL Draft.
Coleman made a name for himself With the OC Vikings during his prep time. He began his collegiate career at Michigan State, where he emerged as a sophomore, putting up nearly 800 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He became one of the most highly coveted prospects when he entered his name into the transfer portal. He ultimately landed at Florida State.
For the Seminoles, Coleman made a statement in his first game, catching nine passes for 122 yards and three touchdowns against LSU. He went on to catch 50 passes for 658 yards and 11 TDs with the Seminoles this season.
While Florida State went 13-0 this year, they did not make the College Football Playoff and instead were sent to the Orange Bowl to face Georgia. Coleman has decided to opt out of that game to prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft.
