Malik Nabers is expecting to hear his name early on the evening of April 25th, when the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft takes place.
Last Wednesday, he furthered his case as one of the top prospects in the class.
Nabers ran a 4.35 in the 40-yard dash, jumped 42 inches in the vertical, and did 15 reps of 225 on the bench press. It was an excellent showing that has his name being buzzed about when it comes to draft analysts. It is now rumored that he could be the first receiver to come off the board in this month’s draft.
LSU head coach Brian Kelly talked about the profile Nabers presents, saying “When you watch film, you see him separate from great players in the SEC. Today you saw a 42-inch vertical and a 4.3 (40-yard dash). This ability to separate on the field is now backed up by the physical prowess you see with a 42-inch vertical and a 4.3 (40-yard dash).”
All 32 teams had scouts in attendance for the event which also featured other NFL hopefuls from LSU.
Linebacker Omar Speights and safety Andre Sam were among other LSU players to participate, running a 4.62 and 4.53-second 40-yard dash, respectively.
Players like quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Brian Thomas opted to only participate in the positional drills portion of the event. They are both already projected to be selected in the first round.
The aforementioned NFL Draft will take place on April 25th thru April 27th in Detroit, Michigan.
