The Houston Astros picked up a 10-0 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night for their first win of the 2024 season.
However, Ronel Blanco was the story of the night.
The 30-year-old starting pitcher pitched a no-hitter in his season debut, throwing 105 pitches and striking out seven Blue Jays on the night while only walking a pair of batters.
The Astros got a pair of homers from Yainer Diaz and four RBI from Kyle Tucker and three from Jeremy Pena.
“Impressive performance,” Houston skipper Joe Espada said. “We needed that. Blanco stepped up and gave us an incredible performance.”
“It was special. For me personally, getting that first win as a manager is special. [But] it’s about Blanco, he should get the lineup card. It’s about him.”
