Blair, Fishburn lead tight Zurich field to final round

After three complete rounds in the 2024 Zurich Classic, Zac Blair and Patrick Fishburn lead a tightly contested field at 23-under par.

Luke List and Henrick Norlander are one shot behind while favorites Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are a pair of strokes behind. Brehm/Hubbard, Yu/Pan, Lee/Kim, Echavarria/Greyserman, and Taylor/Hadwin are also within three shots of the lead after three days.

Blair and Fishburn had a 12-under day to position themselves to lift the crystal Fleur-de-Lis trophy tomorrow afternoon and were just one shot away from breaking the four-ball course record of 59 set by Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay when they won in 2022.

“I think we would have signed up for a 60 at the start of the day,” Blair said following the third round. “We hit some good shots, hit some good putts, and we had a good day.”

Blair missed two years of action with a shoulder injury and has slowly worked his way back after receiving a major medical exemption back into the PGA Tour.

“It’s kind of why you’re out here playing is to have opportunities like this,” Blair, 33, said. “I’ve been out here a handful of years now, so I know that they don’t come that often, and so we’ll do our best to go take advantage of it.”

Fishburn, 31, is a PGA Tour rookie this season and is relishing the opportunity to play with one of his lifelong friends.

“It’s pretty easy to hit shots when Zac is always in the fairway, always on the green. He’s always available,” Fishburn said. “That’s kind of been our keyword for the week. It’s pretty easy for me to swing free knowing that Zac is always going to be there. Zac still hasn’t missed a fairway since he was a kid. He hasn’t broke a tee, hasn’t missed a fairway. He’s gotten up-and-down every single time … things haven’t changed.”

The Zurich Classic concludes on Sunday with the final round from TPC Louisiana.
