LSU Eunice Baseball dug itself out of a big hole with an offensive explosion on its way to a 15-5 win over South Arkansas on Tuesday at Bengal Stadium. The Bengals (45-7) won in seven innings, their 24th mercy rule win of the season.

LSUE found itself in a five run hole after South Arkansas hit a pair of home runs in the opening inning. The Stars managed just two hits for the remainder of the game.

Teddy Johnson started the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the second before LSUE erupted for back-to-back five run frames. Reese Ashworth provided the big hit in the third inning to give LSUE the lead for good, stroking a two-run double.

The tandem of Alex Dupuy and Ashton Fuselier produced the five-run spot in the fourth. Dupuy connected on a bases loaded two-run double followed by a three-run home run by Fuselier. The duo combined for eight RBIs while Dupuy scored four runs, tying a LSUE season-high in a single game. Will Mabry joined the pair with a multi-hit game.

The Bengals would plate four more runs in the sixth inning, taking advantage of four bases loaded walks.

Owen Schexnaydre grabbed his NJCAA best 13th win of the season, overcoming the early adversity. The sophomore tossed five innings, finishing with five strikeouts while yielding four hits and three walks.

Nick Gisclair, Parker Morgan and Mabry pitched the remainder of the game.

LSU Eunice closes out the regular season with a three-game series at Tyler Junior College. The weekend begins with a single game on Saturday, May 4 at 6:00PM from Mike Carter Field.
