The Astros had an early contest on getaway day with the Chicago White Sox in the rubber game of the series. After an early homer, Houston struggled to get anything going until a four-run seventh inning secured the win and the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Yordan Alvarez got things going just seven pitches in as he hit a solo home run to right center after missing the first two games of the series which put the Astros on the board early.

In the fifth, Chicago got a big inning offensively as Luis Robert Jr hit a double to score former Astros catcher Martin Maldanado followed by a single from Andrew Vaughn and a sacrifice fly from Andrew Benintendi to make it a 3-1 game.

Houston responded with four runs in the seventh which started with an RBI single from Jose Altuve that scored Mauricio Dubon before singles from Alex Bregman and Alvarez scored the tying run in the inning. Bregman came around to score on a throwing error that loaded the bases and then Jeremy Pena drew a bases-loaded walk to score Jake Meyers and make it a 5-3 contest.

Josh Hader came on in the ninth to close the door and secure the series for the Astros in a 5-3 victory.

BIG NUMBER: 4

The Astros put four runs on the board in the seventh inning after struggling to get offense going for much of the game to win the series.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Yordan Alvarez

After missing the first two games of the series, Alvarez came out with a 3-5 performance including a home run and a pair of RBIs.

UP NEXT: The Astros return home to host the Baltimore Orioles this weekend. First pitch from Minute Maid Park is set for 7:10 Friday night and can be heard on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 Lake Charles.
