Tracy Walker has found a new home.

The former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns star has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. The veteran safety had spent the first six seasons of his NFL career playing for the Detroit Lions, who drafted him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Walker brings plenty of experience to the 49ers, as he was a starter in the Lions secondary from 2019-21.

In six seasons, the 6-foot-1, 206-pound safety has appeared in 79 games (43 starts), recording 398 tackles (291 solo), 16 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks and 3 interceptions.

He tore his Achilles in 2022 which ended his season after three games. Walker then started only a handful of games during the 2023 season before spending the rest of the season on special teams and was inactive during Detroit’s playoff run to the NFC Championship Game.

Walker, who graduated from UL with a bachelor’s degree in sports management, was a four-year starter for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

In his four seasons playing for the Ragin’ Cajuns, Walker recorded 276 tackles, 26 passes defended, 11 tackles for a loss, and 8 interceptions while earning third-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2017.
