The LSU Tigers defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 34-10 on Saturday night in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The win is the sixth straight and moves LSU to 6-1 overall and 3-0 within SEC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game began with an LSU scoring drive. They marched eight plays and 75 yards, capped by a 22 yard touchdown scamper from Caden Durham. That made it 7-0 Tigers early on.
The Razorbacks had a nice drive themselves, but failed to convert a field goal attempt. That kept it 7-0 and gave LSU their second opportunity.
For the Tigers, they scored points on each of the next three possessions, but were held to three each time. Field goals of 33, 48, and 33 yards gave the Tigers nine additional points. However, Arkansas did get a touchdown in between the last two when Tayler Green found Andrew Armstrong. When the dust had settled, it was a 16-7 lead for LSU going into the half.
Arkansas moved the ball well out of the half and got into field goal range. Once the drive stalled, Matthew Shipley hit a 51 yarder to cut the lead to 16-10.
After the Razorback defense forced a punt, it seemed the momentum was on their side. However, Whit Weeks made his presence felt with an interception at the two yard line. One play later, Durham punched it in and Garrett Nussmeier found Trey’Dez Green for a two-point conversation, making it 24-10.
A failed Razorback drive gave LSU another possession, and once again Nussmeier led them into field goal range. Damian Ramos converted his fourth of the night, this one important as it made it a three-score game at 27-10.
The Tigers put it away with one more scoring drive. Durham ended up in the end zone again, making it 34-10. They forced one more turnover for good measure and ran the clock out after that.
