The Houston Astros finalized their 2025 coaching staff for the Major Leagues on Thursday.
The staff will feature one major change, as long-time third base coach Gary Pettis did not have his contract renewed.
Stepping in to take the place of Pettis is Tony Perezchica, who will act as the third base coach as well as the infield coach/run prevention coordinator. Perezchica served as the third base coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2017-24, including for their run to the World Series in 2023. He has served in a variety of roles as a big-league coach and also a minor league manager. In addition, he is a Mexico native that played for San Francisco and Cleveland.
Jason Bell is changing his role for the 2025 season. He acted as the quality assurance coach but will move to field coordinator/outfield coach role for the upcoming season. That marks the only other change to the staff.
Alex Cintron and Troy Snitker return as the hitting coaches while Josh Miller and Bill Murphy are back as the pitching coaches. Omar Lopez will be the bench coach again as Dave Clark returns coaching first base. Michael Collins and Tommy Kawamura are also both back in their roles for the 2025 season.
