The New Orleans Saints went on the road to historic Lambeau Field but it was a road trip they will want to forget. With Derek Carr and Alvin Kamara both sidelined with injuries, the Green Bay Packers dominated the Saints 34-0 on Monday Night Football.
It was the first time the Saints had been shut out during an MNF game, having scored in the team’s previous 52 games on Monday Night Football.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Green Bay scored touchdowns on their first three possessions.
The Packers started things off with a 10-play, 63-yard drive which ended with Jordan Love finding Dontayvion Wicks for a two-yard touchdown pass. That was followed by a 17-play, 96-yard drive, where the team converted twice on fourth down and ended with Josh Jacobs powering his way into the endzone from two yards out.
The third possession ended like the first two drives as Green Bay went 67 yards on six plays, capped with a one-yard touchdown run by Chris Brooks.
New Orleans first three drives meanwhile produced 48 yards on 15 plays, two punts, and one lost fumble by rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler.
The Saints finally showed some life shortly before halftime but after getting the ball past midfield, the drive went backward with bad clock management and a 12-yard loss on a sack of Rattler. The Hail Mary throw as time expired was incomplete.
At the break, the Packers held a 21-0 lead.
After the Saints started the second half with a punt, the Packers added to its lead with a 55-yard field goal by Brandon McManus. Green Bay would add a 46-yard field goal by McManus in the fourth quarter.
Green Bay would add another score in the fourth, a one-yard touchdown run by Emanuel Wilson. That was the final score of the contest.
