On Saturday, the New Orleans Pelicans took a 119-115 loss from the San Antonio Spurs. The Pelicans announced Zion Williamson as out due to personal reasons, while Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox were on the Spurs’ injury report.

CJ McCollum registered 26 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds for the Pelicans. Trey Murphy III contributed 20 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Devin Vassell scored a team-high 22 points with five rebounds for the Spurs. Harrison Barnes and Stephon Castle combined for 36 points.

With San Antonio holding a two-point lead and 1:30 left in regulation, a three-pointer from Vassell shifted momentum further towards the Spurs. Kelly Olynyk sank a layup with 0:18 left, bringing the Pelicans’ deficit to three points. The Spurs made all four free throw attempts in the remaining seconds of play, erasing hopes for a New Orleans comeback.

New Orleans now holds an 18-50 season record. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games.
