Carlos Correa’s stellar debut in the majors ends with him winning AL Rookie of the year.
The rookie shortstop narrowed out Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor for the award that was announced on Monday. Correa received 17 first place votes while Lindor got 13.
Correa was heavily hyped as a prospect and more than lived up to it in 2015. Since his major league debut in June, he batted .279/.345/.512 with 22 home runs, 68 RBI, and 14 stolen bases over 99 games.
On the NL side of things, Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs won the NL Rookie of the Year unanimously, receiving all 30 first place votes.
