McNeese Cowboys basketball star Larry Johnson is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to multiple sources.

The freshman phenom was a 1st Team All-Southland Conference performer, averaging 17.4 points per game. In addition to his scoring, Johnson averaged 5.5 rebounds per game as well. He was the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year, a member of the SLC All-Tournament Team, and a finalist for the Kyle Macy Award, which is given to the top freshman in Division I men’s basketball.

The McNeese Cowboys enjoyed their third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, winning the Southland Conference Tournament after finishing second in the league’s regular season. They closed the season with a record of 28-6.

It was reported that McNeese was attempting to retain Johnson, but for now he will be exploring other offers.
