The McNeese Cowboys have agreed to a contract extension with head baseball coach Justin Hill, the school announced on Thursday.
Hill has been in charge of the Cowboys for 13 seasons, winning 396 games to this point. That is enough to make him the winningest coach in McNeese baseball history, and the winningest active coach in the state of Louisiana.
The extension adds four years to Hill’s contract, and was announced by Director of Athletics Bridget Martin.
“Coach Hill has set the standard for excellence on and off the field,” said Martin. “This contract extension reflects the confidence we have in the baseball program under his leadership.” “My family and I are so grateful for the opportunity to continue to lead the McNeese baseball program,” said Hill. “While the world of college athletics is full of uncertainty, two things have never wavered: the support we’ve always received from our McNeese family, and our family’s commitment to this community as a whole. Thank you to our new president, Mr. Michael Reese, Director of Athletics, Bridget Martin, and Deputy AD Matt Fontenot, for their faith in me to continue as the leader of our baseball program. I am especially indebted to our coaches, our support staff, and most of all our student-athletes, both former and current, who trust us during one of the most important formational times of their lives. I am beyond grateful. Geaux Pokes!”
The Cowboys are coming off of a season in which they went 31-26 overall. They made a run in the Southland Conference Tournament, winning the Hammond bracket and advancing to the Championship Series against Lamar.
