#3OT: LSU vs Alabama

Posted by clintdomingue on January 23, 2016 in Featured

3OT

Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!

1st OT: LSU Defense Unlikely Hero Late

The LSU defense has been a major issue for this team all season long and the Texas A&M loss really exposed the problems.  But the Tigers got it going in the second half, holding Alabama to 26 points. If this team wants to stack up wins, which they can in the immediate future, there needs to be consistency in the defensive play for LSU.

2nd OT:  Improvement on Free Throws

The LSU Tigers haven’t exactly been known for their prowess from the charity stripe. Heading into this afternoon’s matchup they were 66 percent from the free throw line. Today was a different story, shooting 10-14. Shooting from that area is a big reason why a team either wins or loses. Just look at LSU’s tournament matchup last year against NC State for an example of what poor shooting from behind the line can do to a team.

3rd OT: Need to Crash the Boards on Offense

I’ve listened to more LSU games than I’ve actually watched this season, but getting an opportunity to see them play showed that this team needs to be crashing the boards more often. Almost every time the Tigers made a shot, the rest of the team was already moving back to play defense. The ratio for offensive-to-defensive rebounds is even more staggering for this with 209 coming on offense and 502 on defense. That’s almost 300 more defensive rebounds than offensive. The Tigers will need to start crashing the boards more often on the offensive side of the ball.
