Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Ben Simmons Starts Out Hot, Cools Off Late
Freshman phenom Ben Simmons started out strong on Tuesday night scoring 17 of his 21 points in the opening frame. He was one rebound short of a double-double in the first half. After that he only scored four points. Yes, he only shot three from the field in the second half, but he shouldn’t be shooting that few shots late. It just doesn’t sit well with me that in the last two games, he’s only really shown up in one half of the game. There needs to be a mentality of playing hard from opening tip to the final horn, especially with Simmons.
2nd OT: Get Well Soon, Quarterman
In the second half, Tim Quarterman suffered a hip injury. With how he has played in the last few games, it could be a big loss for the Tigers down the stretch. Quarterman has really started to adjust into the role he is playing for this team. The team needs to be able to adapt without having him in the lineup. Perhaps throw in Josh Gray, who was in double figures tonight.
3rd OT: LSU Catches a Break
The last three games, the LSU Tigers had big leads. In two of the last three, they let those leads slip away. This wasn’t one of those games, but it wasn’t any better with them being up by 20 points and letting Auburn get within 10 points. If it wasn’t for Auburn shooting a lot of three pointers and only making 29 percent of them, this could be another one of those games. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
