According to a new survey, 51% of Americans have gone swimming in a pool as a replacement for a shower… That’s RIGHT, more than half of us are okay sharing our gross bodily grime with a pool full of people, and not think twice about it. I’m not even sure what to say here… other than “UGGGH WHY?!”
Some may argue and say “oh but chlorine will kill the germs and bacteria” – WRONG! When impurities are introduced in the water, chlorine will only kill work to a certain point. Basically, things like dirt, sweat, personal care products, react with the chlorine, which use it up. When there are more of these impurities in the water, there is less chlorine available to kill germs. So… at some point, it’s just a nasty cesspool that you’re waddling around in. Also, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that dunking yourself in a pool isn’t as effective as scrubbing with soap.
This survey also found many pool users NEVER shower beforehand… a whopping 48% actually! I’m gonna think twice before using a public pool this summer… What do you think? Using the pool instead of a shower… gross or acceptable??
