Antoine Duplantis Drafted by New York Mets

Posted by clintdomingue on June 5, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

Antoine Duplantis knows what the process is like when it comes to the MLB Draft. One of the things that he likely learned during the 2018 draft was patience. It took 12 rounds, but the Lafayette product was finally drafted on Wednesday afternoon by the New York Mets.

Duplantis, who was picked at 358th, is LSU’s all-time leader in hits (354), games played (267), at-bats (1,098) and triples (16). Just last weekend during the Baton Rouge Regional, he hit .357 (5-for-14) in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional with three RBI and four runs scored, and he batted .304 (7-for-23) in the SEC Tournament with two doubles, one triple, three RBI and five runs.

Duplantis is the fifth LSU Tiger to get drafted by LSU, joining Josh Smith, Zach Watson, Zack Hess, and Todd Peterson who were drafted during the first two days of the 2019 MLB Draft.
