The Houston Astros have made another move on the day of the MLB Trade Deadline, acquiring pitcher Caleb Ferguson from the New York Yankees.
In exchange, the Astros sent a High-A prospect in right-hander Kelly Austin and $750,000 in international signing money.
Ferguson comes to Houston with a career 3.66 ERA, but a 5.13 ERA in 2024. He pitched 33.1 innings for the Yankees in 2024 with 24 runs and 41 strikeouts. Prior to this year in the Big Apple, he played with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2018-2023.
Austin appeared in 26 games in 2024 with a 3-0 record and a 2.21 ERA to go along with 46 strikeouts in 36.2 innings as a member of High-A Fayetteville.
The Astros have been linked to adding more pitching depth to the rotation to help with the injuries that are still nagging Justin Verlander, Luis Garcia, and others.
