According to multiple media outlets, the Houston Astros acquired pitcher Yusei Kikuchi from the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.
Kikuchi, a 33-year-old left hander, has a 4.75 ERA this season. His career ERA is 4.72, but he posted a career-best 3.86 mark last season.
Going back to the Blue Jays is a package of three Astros’ prospects, two of which were most recently on the big-league club. Pitcher Jake Bloss, outfielder Joey Loperfido, and infielder Will Wagner were all included in the deal.
Bloss is a 23 year-old right hander who had a 6.94 ERA in 11 and two-thirds innings this season.
Loperfido is a 25-year-old left-handed outfielder. He batted .236 for the Astros this season after making his MLB debut in April.
Wagner is the son of Astros great Billy Wagner. He is a 26-year-old infielder who was batting just over .300 in AAA this season.
The Astros will face the Pirates again tomorrow night, July 30th, at 7:10 PM. The game can be heard on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette 104.1 Lake Charles.
