After Tuesday night’s fireworks at Minute Maid Park, things were a lot tamer between the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dodgers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second with a solo shot out to right field, but it was quickly tied up in the bottom frame with Myles Straw getting Michael Brantley home off of a single to first baseman Max Muncy.
The score remained tied at 1-1 until the top of the 11th inning when Mookie Betts drilled one out to left-center to score Enrique Hernandez. The Astros were able to keep the game going in the bottom frame with an RBI single from Carlos Correa, but that was all they were able to muster and the game continued.
The Dodgers were able to seal the deal in the top of the 13th with a leadoff two-run blast from Edwin Rios out to right field. After a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 13th, the door was slammed shut after Correa grounded into a double play and Dustin Garneau struck out.
The poor offensive output marred what was a solid performance for Cristian Javier. Javier, who filled in for ace Justin Verlander, had a solid first MLB start was solid, allowing only one run off of two hits and struck out eight.
The Astros will look to bounce back from two straight losses on Friday when they begin a series against the Los Angeles Angels with first pitch set for 8:10 pm.
