The Houston Astros needed one more win to clinch the AL West by taking on the Seattle Mariners at Minute Maid Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Houston Astros got the scoring going early with a solo home run from Alex Bregman to go ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the first.
In the second inning, Seattle answered with a Jorge Polanco solo shot to tie the game at 1 before adding two more runs in the third on a Randy Arozarena RBI double and Polanco adding another RBI with a single to make it 3-1 Mariners.
Kyle Tucker sliced the lead in half with a solo homer to right field that gave the Astros some life offensively after falling into a hole for a few innings from Logan Gilbert. Next inning, the newest Astro Jason Heyward launched a two-run shot to right field that gave Houston the lead once again 4-3.
The Houston bullpen was great down the stretch as Bryan Abreu, Ryan Pressley, and Josh Hader shut the door on the Mariners, clinching the 7th straight division title for the Astros.
